A week of Change

This week has been a rather interesting one, I must say.  My final week at work was handled fairly smoothly, all things considered.  It really was a blessing, and in a lot of ways I am going to miss working there.  A lot of good people work at Fedex Express, and the job did wonders for assisting in ensuring I could move to this point in my life.  But, as they say, the show must go on.  Now that Fedex is out of the picture, I have to look forward to Ball State, which means the creative juices must continue to flow.

I'm fairly close now to have been dating Michele for a month, and I have to say, the relationship has taught me quite a bit about patience... and relaxing.  Naturally, not being able to see her on anything resembling a consistent basis has been something I have had to learn to deal with.  But so far, I've found it to be a worthwhile venture.  Even if she cannot be physically be here for me, it has been a blessing and a joy to be in this relationship so far.  The road has been, and will likely remain, interesting.  I look forward to seeing how it continues to turn.

Moving away from the sappy reminiscing and sappy romantic 'aww' stuff, we look forward to this week.  Gencon.  Dubbed "The Best Four Days in Gaming."  One of the reasons I left Fedex at the time I did.  It's coming, it's almost here, it's going to be an adventure to be sure.  Naturally, I will be spending the week doing all manner of gaming and faffing about.  The important thing, of course, is that all of my friends are going to be there that I rarely get to see.  Exciting times ahead!

I've got some ideas for some screenplays I want to get to work on.  I will get to the details when I return home from this whole Gencon thing.  I refuse to claim that these will be fantastic or deep ideas, but I am optimistic that at least the term 'interesting' can be attached to them.

Nothing more than a Start

So, in the past few days, I've long considered the idea of starting up my own blog.  Three things in particular made this venture one that I was unsure of:

  1. Time.  As I'm preparing to start college full time, the hours that I can spend putting my thoughts into blog form becomes more and more limited, which made me wonder if it was worth it to even start.
  2. Inspiration.  I tend to have lapses where I have no idea what to write about.  Worse, I sometimes end up with lapses of knowing what to write about but having no idea how to express it on paper.
  3. Tacos.  Honestly, I only had two, but the best things come in threes and I'm hungry.
I spent a couple of days weighing the pros and cons, and decided to go ahead and give this a shot.  So let's get this started the right way and make some stated goals for this blog.

  • To keep weekly updates of my life that should not just be relegated to 140 character updates on Facebook.
  • A place to store inspiration in a public place where people can offer advice on how to make my thoughts appear in the appropriate medium.
  • A place for me to try (and likely fail) to be silly on occasion where I just need to write for the sake of writing.
  • NOT and NEVER a place for me to spend two or three pages worth of writing material whining about any particular thing.  While yes, I will update you on my life, I have no desire to use this space to pine on things that make me terribly sad.  Ideally this will mean that if something is wrong, it will be a paragraph of "this is what happened, it sucks but I'll deal" and then we move on to other things.
So that's what we have mostly for today.  I'll try to update this thing on Sundays, since it's essentially my lazy day, but I cannot promise consistency, so if you start getting frustrated, I ask only that you remember that I am doing this mostly for my own sake.
